Jack Warren Robinson
(Jack Junior)
Jack was born on January 24, 1932 in Danville, LA and passed from this
life together with his wife Thelma Brewster Robinson on January 22, 2013
in an auto accident at Athens, TX.
Jack left behind Sons: Rodney Glen Robinson and wife Peggy of Quitman,
LA; Darrell Robinson and wife Susan of West Monroe, LA; Keith Robinson
and wife Peggy of Vicksburg, MS. Stepdaughters: Stacia Emerson and
husband David of Dallas, TX and Shannon Brown and husband Joseph of
Ruston, LA.
Jack is also survived by Grandsons: TSGT David Warren Robinson and wife
Sarah of Newport, VA¬; Michael Glen Robinson of Quitman, LA; and Adam
Emerson of Dallas, TX, Granddaughters: Tobie Prejean of Carencro, LA;
Christina Watts and husband Rev. Paul Watts of Franklinton, LA; Melinda
Robinson of Jena, LA; Lindsey Wagley of Lafayette, LA; Brittany Anderson
of Vicksburg, MS; Lauren Martin and husband Bob of Mobile, AL; Michaela
Emerson of Dallas, TX; McKenna Brown of Ruston, LA; thirteen
great-grandchildren; Brothers: L. L. (Slick) Robinson of Quitman, LA;
Clyde W. (Peanut) Robinson of Jonesboro, LA; Sisters: Betty Jean
Carpenter of Saline, LA; Robbie Lou McConathy of Quitman, LA; and Janice
Driggers of Indian Springs, Ohio.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Dora Louise Greer
Robinson, his wife of 58 years Christine Alexander Robinson and sisters;
JoAnn Abercrombie and Helen Rivard.
Jack graduated from Friendship High School in Friendship, LA in 1950 and
began a short career as a truck driver at Hodge, LA then enlisted in the
U. S. Air Force in 1953, retiring in 1973 with the rank of Chief Master
Sergeant (E9) as an Avionic Superintendent and Combat Crew Member.
Military service assignments included Korea, Vietnam, Japan, England,
Texas, Arkansas, Ohio, and Maine. Awards and Decorations include air
medals with 3OLC as an Airborne Maintenance Tech (AMT) on Combat mission
in Vietnam, Meritorious Service, Commemoration Medal, Korean, Vietnam
Service medals, and the Combat Crew Badge.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1973, he began a 27 year career
with CenturyTel in Olive Branch, MS as a supervisor and progressed
through the positions of Manager, Division Manager and Vice President
for telephone companies in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas in 1981.
In 1981, he moved his family back to Christine's birthplace, Jackson
Parish, and went back to his roots of gardening, Church work, and
activities at BAFB, and community service with Friendship High School
ground (Southern Baptist Association) and commuted to work at various
headquarter locations for CenturyTel.
In 1984, he transferred to Monroe, LA as Vice President of Telecom
Operations retiring in 1997. He was retained as a consultant for several
years in the area of acquisitions of new telephone companies in mid-west
northwestern states.
Jack and Thelma married in 2012. They had a very active life exercising,
traveling, visiting family and attending Cook Baptist Church in Ruston,
LA.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. January 25, 2013 at
Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA. Funeral service will be at 10:00
a.m. January 26, 2013 at McDonald Baptist Church in Jonesboro, LA. |
