Taylor Greene
March 9, 1931 to January 5, 2022
Taylor Jay Greene, age 90, passed away in his
sleep on January 5, 2022, at the Watercrest Senior Living facility
in Newnan, Georgia. Taylor is survived by his second wife Dolores
Durnwald Greene of Newnan, his daughter Carol and husband Jeff
Jordan of Gilbert, AZ. Carol's children JL and Carrie Jordan,
Linnlee and Brian Melcher, Anakate and Vance Jones and Danielle and
Josh Judd, along with 15 great grandchildren, Justin, Kaylynn,
Hanna, Cody, Kaid, Brielle, Ellory, Evie, Vaughn, Jace, Clara,
Aftynn, Silas, Genevieve and Caroline. Treece’s children Taylor and
Melanie Skelton and sons Henry and Owen of Nashville, TN, daughter
Missy and Geoff Duke of Phoenix, AZ and daughter Kate Skelton and
Brad Priest of Tempe, AZ. Mrs. Greene's children, Randy and Candy
Durnwald of Sugar Hill, GA, Mike and Debbie Durnwald of Alpharetta,
GA, Linda and Keith Edmonds of Newnan, GA and Jeff and Wendy
Durnwald of Dawsonville, GA and 11 step grandchildren, Christian (Bryanna),
Austin, Nathan, Zachary, Angela, Luke (Nicole), Brandon, Conner,
Mary Grace, Sarah, and Daniel, along with 4 great grandchildren, and
a Brother-in-law, Allen Jones of Burleson, Texas. Taylor was born on
March 9, 1931, in Boise, Idaho to Henry and Lillian Greene. He had
one older brother, Henry Greene. Taylor joined the Air Force December
17, 1946, serving 30 years before retiring as an E-9. His military
career included serving in three wars, WWII, Korean and Vietnam.
After his military career, he worked for General Dynamics and
retired from there to Prescott, AZ. He met Virginia Marie Jones in
Fort Worth, Texas and they married there in February of 1951. He was
a wonderful and loving husband and father. They traveled to Japan
and Okinawa and various places in the United States before retiring
in 1976. After the passing of Virginia, Taylor was reintroduced to
Dolores Durnwald, and they married on March 17, 2007. They spent
their time between Prescott, AZ and Newnan, GA until November 2020
when they moved to Newnan permanently. He is preceded in death by
his first wife Virginia Jones Greene, his daughter Vertreece Marie
Skelton, his brother Henry Greene and his parents, Henry and Lillian
Greene. A funeral service is scheduled for January 14, 2022, at
Heatherwood Baptist Church in Newnan, Visitation 9:30am to 11:00am
and 11:00am for the service with internment to follow at the
National Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions can be offered to the VFW or the Heatherwood Baptist
Church, Newnan.
