THOMAS CHARLES FOWLER, JR  ------ August 7, 1946 ---- October 28, 2017

Thomas Charles Fowler, Jr.

August 7, 1946 - October 28, 2017

We have lost another great friend and fellow AMT.  Tom was a LIFETIME CHARTER member of the Airborne Maintenance Technician Association.

Tom is another one of those friends that will definitely be missed.  Most of us have known Tom for the better part of 50 years.

Thomas Charles Fowler Jr. of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the age of 71. Thomas was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Thomas Charles Fowler Sr. and Sarah Rose Cutugno. He joined the Air Force in 1964, and served bravely in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Air Medal. He met his wife Sharon in San Angelo, Texas where they were married. They were stationed in Japan where they had their two children, Teresa and Thomas.

He was a member of the Electronic Security Command and was stationed and re-stationed around the world with a very close group of lifelong friends, who became his extended family. His next few assignments took him to Offutt AFB in Nebraska, Eielson AFB near Fairbanks, Alaska, and finally Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas. There, Thomas retired from the Air Force as a S/MSgt after Honorably serving 22 years.

Thomas spent the next 21 years working as a Logistics Engineering Manager for Lockheed Martin, first in Austin, Texas, and then transferring in 1995 to Denver, Colorado. In 2006, he retired again and was able to spend more time cruising, RVing, and traveling the world. In 2011, Thomas and his wife Sharon moved to Georgetown, TX to be closer to family.

Thomas was always very active in and devoted to the Catholic Church, and continuously gave back to the church and his community through his involvement in The Knights of Columbus since 1982. In 1983, he became a 4th Degree Knight, and in 1987 he had the privilege to serve in the Honor Guard leading the procession when Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in San Antonio. Through the years, Thomas has held many positions in The Knights including: Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, District Deputy, Financial Secretary, and many others. Since moving to Georgetown, Thomas has also become involved in the American Legion.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Sharon (Rood) Fowler; siblings Bridget Boyd, Robert and his wife Sharon, and Sara Jean and her husband Richard Maggard; children Teresa and Thomas and his wife Cindi; grandchildren Cotonya and husband James Sifford; and great-grandchildren Johnathan Liles Kennedy, Charlie William Sifford, and Caitlyn Elizabeth Sifford; other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of St David’s Georgetown Hospital and Austin Cancer Center of Georgetown for all the care and comfort they provided to Thomas.

Thomas “GG” Fowler will always be remembered for his love, support, and guidance. He was a man loved by all. As a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, our hearts are with him. We will miss and love him forever.

Viewing will take place on Thursday, November 2nd from 5:00 to 6:00pm followed by a Rosary from 6:00 to 7:00pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 3rd at 1:30pm at St. Helen Catholic Church, with the burial immediately following at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, also in Georgetown, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in his name.

You may share a message or memory in the online memorial guestbook at www.RamseyFuneral.com.
